Rouhani in NY for UNGA, talks with Europeans

TEHRAN, Sep. 23 (MNA) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has arrived in New York on Monday and will have meetings with some European counterparts.

President Hassan Rouhani arrived in New York to attend the 69th UN General Assembly and will deliver his speech 'on behalf of all Iranians.'

He was received by some Iranian and foreign officials in addition to media representatives in New York. On his first day in the United States, President Rouhani will start his schedule with a working breakfast with heads of some American media and will later meet with foreign officials including Japanese PM.

Rouhani will also attend climate change summit to deliver speech in the event. Further, he is scheduled to meet with officials from Turkey, Austria and France.

President Rouhani is scheduled to meet with France counterpart Francois Hollande on the sidelines of the UN Assembly to talk about Iraq developments.

Iranian president will also meet with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the end of his first day in New York.

Meanwhile, a number of UK media outlets also reported a meeting between Iranian president and British PM will be held on the sidelines of the 69th UN General Assembly.

The British media mentioned meeting of Hassan Rouhani and David Cameron will be a historic meeting and first ever meeting between top-ranking officials of the two countries.

According to Germany’s deputy spokesperson, German FM Steinmeier will also meet with Iran’s president in New York.
